Web DevelopmentFast, Effective, Mobile-First DevelopmentADA / WCAG / Section 508 Website Compliance

At Green Closet Creative we take a mobile first approach to web design and development. What does that mean? Exactly what you might imagine. When designing a website, we look at the mobile design first, prioritizing important content and creating clear, intuitive navigation.

Web Accessibility

In 2018, the Trump administration blocked legislation that would compel many websites to be ADA compliant and ensure that people of all abilities have equal access to the web. President Biden has stated that this will be a priority for him; he even includes a statement about it on his campaign website. WCAG is the current standard used to evaluate ADA and Section 508 website compliance. The guidelines required to meet WCAG 2.2 are explained by W3.org here.  Unless you have years of experience working in website development, you’re not likely going to be able to transition your site to meet ADA compliance requirements without the help of an experienced web accessibility team. That’s where we come in to help. Read our blog post about ADA compliance to learn more.

The Rules are Constantly Changing:

Google regularly updates its algorithms up to a thousand times in a year.  These changes to the algorithm can significantly impact your page ranking.  Therefore, working on your website’s search engine optimization is not a one-and-done process. We work with clients to constantly monitor their search results in order to adjust the course when necessary.

Page speed has been part of Google’s ranking for years, but on June 16, 2021, Google introduced a series of core algorithm updates that focus on site speed and page experience.  These ranking signals are called the Core Web Vitals (CWVs).

The new Core Web Vitals will affect not only how we build websites in terms of coding, but the types of things we put on page as well.  Commonplace elements such as scrolling homepage banners naturally kill website speed and are a thing of the past with savvy web developers.
